About the role
Reflect is SmartBear's AI-powered, no-code test automation platform for creating, maintaining, and running tests across web, API, and mobile applications. Reflect helps teams turn plain-English steps and recorded browser interactions into automated tests, analyze execution results, and connect automation with test management workflows. The frontend work spans the customer-facing Reflect web application and the browser instrumentation used to record user actions, capture page context, and support reliable execution. As a Software Engineer (Frontend), you will play a key role in developing high-performance, responsive, and secure product experiences using Vue 3, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and modern frontend tooling. This frontend role covers both the Reflect web application and the browser instrumentation code used for recording, replay, observability, and automation workflows. You will build reusable UI components, integrate with REST and WebSocket APIs, improve test authoring and run analysis experiences, and contribute to browser automation surfaces across Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. You will collaborate with product, design, QA, backend, and automation engineers in an agile environment while contributing to implementation, testing, debugging, and documentation.
Key responsibilities
• Develop scalable, responsive, and maintainable frontend applications using Vue 3, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3 • Design and implement reusable UI components, product workflows, and stateful experiences using Vue Router and Pinia/Vuex • Integrate frontend features with REST, JSON, and WebSocket APIs in collaboration with backend services • Contribute to browser extension/instrumentation in TypeScript, including DOM event capture, selectors, iframes, shadow DOM, file uploads, network requests, clipboard handling, and browser APIs • Analyze and resolve UI bugs, performance bottlenecks, asynchronous timing issues, and cross-browser compatibility problems • Write and maintain focused tests using Jest, Vue Test Utils, jsdom, Playwright, Puppeteer, and related frontend testing tools • Use modern frontend build and development tools such as Webpack, npm, TypeScript configuration, ESLint, Prettier, and Storybook • Follow Agile development practices, participate in sprint ceremonies, code reviews, and continuous improvement discussions
Qualifications
• 4-6 years of hands-on experience in frontend development, preferably building SaaS or complex product applications • Strong understanding of TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, browser rendering behavior, and responsive UI development • Hands-on experience with Vue.js/Vue 3 or a similar component-based framework, Vue 3 experience is preferred • Familiarity with frontend state management and routing patterns such as Pinia, Vuex, and Vue Router • API-driven development experience working with REST APIs, JSON payloads, WebSocket updates, and asynchronous data flows • Experience with frontend build tooling such as Webpack, npm, TypeScript, Babel, and related configuration • Familiarity with testing frameworks and tools such as Jest, Vue Test Utils, jsdom, Playwright, or Puppeteer • Exposure to browser extension development, browser APIs, DOM instrumentation, or cross-browser debugging is strongly preferred • Understanding of accessibility, security, performance, and cross-browser compatibility considerations in frontend applications • Experience with version control and collaborative development workflows using GitHub or GitLab • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills • Ability to write clean, modular, testable, and maintainable code • Ownership mindset with attention to detail and willingness to debug complex product behavior • Collaborative approach and comfort working with cross-functional Agile/Scrum teams • Curiosity for testing, browser automation, user experience, and modern frontend technologies
